BE REALISTIC!
If a very rich person decided to bless you with a blank cheque leaf into which you could write and withdraw any amount from his accounts, how much would you want to claim? Before you write “the whole world”, sit down and do a little exercise. Are you ready? Here we go—
Quickly grab a piece of paper and pen or pencil and realistically answer the following questions—
- How much money would you need in one year for domestic affairs, e.g., food, rents, transportation, school fees, clothing, etc?
- How much would you need as enough capital for business or ministry within a year? This should include accommodation, equipments, furniture, advertisements, staffing, etc?
- How much would you need for a personal house and car?
- How much extra cash would you need for leisure and pleasure, e.g., overseas travels, etc?
Now, add up the total to see how much you realistically need to live as comfortable as you would like for a whole year and feel great and successful. How much is it? “Beware of covetousness”
Consider this. Since nothing goes for nothing, it should be expected that you would be willing to give or do something in order to claim the amount on your cheque, even if this means simply paying your way to the bank. How much are you willing to give in terms of money and time? Can you spare N1,000? Can you wait for a year, if need be, to claim your gift?
If you answered “yes” to those questions, then, do this. Write down how much you need beside the amount that would be given you and find out which is greater. The given or yours? If yours is greater it would be made up.
Before you know how much you could be given, there is one more thing to do. Your donor is so rich he wants to bless so many people—not you alone. Would you be willing to introduce three persons who would be blessed with the same amount you are blessed with? Then, list their names, talk to them about it, and get them to do this same exercise.
Be assured that if you can—
- Invest N1,000;
- Get 3 persons to do the same within 30 days, and
- Be willing to wait for about a year;
You will receive a maximum commission of N4 – 5m.
